“Slow” Experimental Music Video

It’s been a long time since i’ve done some Cinema 4D work. I made it mainly to free my mind from all of the UX Design work at MAXON. I hope you enjoy it and i’d love to hear what you think about it in the comments, facebook or twitter :)

CubePong is (a)live !!!

Hello everyone,
i just wanted to let you know about a very cool project that just kicked of. It’s called CubePong. My mate Eugene Opperman created a site where you can register yourself and be part of a great learning experience by collaborating on a single CINEMA4D file that get’s passed around in the community. Each registered artist will modify the C4D file and passes it on to the next registered user. BAM…at the end, not only you’ve learned something from others, you also got your style/design/animation in there. What can be more fun than that ??? So stop reading an head over to www.cubepong.net and register yourself :)
Have fun everyone

Tools4D - Additional Effectors
Hey folks,
i’m very happy and honored to get my hands on the Additional Effectors from Paul Everett also known as Tools4D (www.tools4d.com).
The Effectors
- Selection Effector
- Fit Effector
- Surface Effector
1. Selection Effector
It enables you to use Polygon Selections and drive them via the Effector’s FallOff to constantly update the selection Tag. It simply rocks ! I used it in conjunction with a Vertex map in the above image. Very cool to get some abstract displacements done.
Yader Labs did a very nice preview movie on Vimeo here.
2.) Fit Effector
Ever got annoyed of overlapping clones ? Yes i know, same here. But no more. The Fit Effector is taking care of this. You can set an “Intersect Distance” to avoid overlapping. Awesome ! Very often i wished it would just work out of the box.
Nice example of the Fit Effector from useruser on Vimeo
3.) Surface Effector
This is may be the most useful of the 3 effectors. Transfare MoGraph particles and Clones from one surface to another. It’s PBlurb (TP) on steroids. I like it a lot and i bet a lot of Motion Designers will love it as well.
Funny example from useruser on Vimeo
From my very first tests i’ve done i can say, that these Effectors are a must for every MoGraph artist. They are a more than valuable addition in the already fantastic MoGraph toolset.
So why are you still reading ? Head over to Tools4D and buy them out now !!! :)
Paul Clements - Headphones Breakdown !

Wow, wow, wow. If you haven’t seen the commercial yet, i highly recommend it to you, go there NOW ! While directly after watching Paul Clements outstanding work on this commercial you must not miss his 2:49min shot breakdown movie, which you can find here.
So thanks to Paul Clements for sharing his insights with the Cinema4D community.

“The Light Dome”
This tutorial was highly inspired by a plugin for CINEMA 4D called “50grey”, i think it was a plugin written by Manuel from Aixsponza if i’m not totally wrong. And i loved it back in the days. But why ? Well easy to answer. Computer power wasn’t all there yet to render all your scenes with Global Illumination / Radiosity. Especially my computer was more like a calculator that days :) So i found this plugin and it was great. What’s so cool about a plugin called “50grey”, well let me tell you. The plugin placed Light sources onto a hemisphere. This gave your rendering a GI look&feel which was a great deal. On the other hand it saved you a lot of time, and i mean A LOT, Rendertime.
So in this tutorial i would like to show you how to set up something similar, maybe a bit more advanced than what the plugin did. I will use CINEMA 4D’s MoGraph. And believe me, for some shots this is still the way to go :)
Tutorial 3 - The Light Dome Tutorial
Free Desktop Wallpaper created with Cinema4D R13. I used the wonderful new physical renderer for Depth of Field and Bokeh effects.
“Seeds v.2” - The Making Of
I really received allot of emails asking me how i did my little experimental movie Seeds v.2. So after i got a little more time again to play around with Cinema4D, i captured this movie to show you how i’ve done it. It’s double the actual speed so you may want to pause the clip here and there. Anyhow i hope this helps to understand how to achieve the effect. Want to know how ? Just watch the movie here.
I’ll record some more stuff in near future so just add me to your Twitter timeline to not miss the update.
